High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure, also called hypertension, occurs when the pressure in your arteries is above the normal range. Studies show that diets rich in fruits and vegetables and reduced in saturated fat can lower both the risk for high blood pressure and assist those with hypertension lower their blood pressure. Adopting a diet, such as the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet reduces the sodium in your diet and includes a variety of foods rich in nutrients that help lower blood pressure, such as potassium, calcium and magnesium.
